I'm hearing that Dodge has stopped delivery on all trucks with the new 6 speed transmission. The ones on the lots can be sold but no more are going to be delivered. I'm not sure what the problem is but it must be something bad to warrant that kind of response. Even special order trucks are not being released.
Yeah the dealers are saying that there might not be a problem but the quality control team shut down the deliveries until they find out for sure... Good old dodge, getting rid of a nice tranny like the NV5600 for something they can build themselves cheaper...
I,ve heard one of the problems is the fact they are leaking gear oil out the front of the trans at the input seal. Even if they fixed that problem you still have to deal with a dual mass flywheel. Designed to soften the shock load on the transmission. VERY expensive to replace. I wonder how much extra power that flywheel is going to be able to handle. Aftermarket heavy duty clutches will have to come with mods for the flywheel or a new flywheel altogether. G-56 = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ out of your pocket.
I wonder what Timmay would say about this, especially considering his new dodge is supposed to have one. rotfl
Timmays truck is being held and he is not happy about it. Go check out his thread on pavement sucks in the dodge forum. HeHeHeHe.
http://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127296 Tom is a great guy and Tim is treating him like dirt because he didn't get his truck in time...
[bradybunch]Timmy Timmy Timmy! Everything is always about Timmy![/bradybunch] The dual mass flywheel is probably there to make what appears to be a car trans live behind the Cummins, according to what's being said on TDR.
Ha, the first thing I thought when I read the thread title was " good for Timmay.." rotfl I figured as much with that new transmission, perfect example of why you are not supposed to try and fix something that isn't broken. The 5600 was a very nice transmission. With the way I see the new Dodges going, they keep postponing my plans on when I will sell my 2nd gen. rotfl
BWAAHAHAHAHA rotfl They stop release of the trucks for an unknown issue, and all of a sudden the G56 is a "known crappy tranny"(timmay quote), when for all anybody knows its not even an issue with the actual trans itself Its brand new, only a handfull exist and they havent been recalled, and all of a sudden its a "known crappy tranny", to funny. But, back on topic, i really do wonder what the problem is? It cant be to huge of an issue, because they havent recalled all of the trucks already sold, nor are they stopping sales of what is already on the lot. I wonder if a batch got a part machined wrong and they caught it before they made it to the dealers
Poor, poor Timmy. He will never learn to treat people with respect. I though that maybe he would have learned from his experience of being banned, but I guess not. I thought that his truck was supposed to be delivered like 2 months ago?
From what he has been saying, the delay was with shipping, not the actual build date of the truck. The real slap in the face is that I ordered my F250 AFTER timmay put in the order for his dodge, and I got mine first rotfl You better believe I let him know about that.
