maybe Im missing something, but it seems to me like that particular hitch would not be as strong as an adjustable hitch where the pins go all the way through the actual slide in piece... My adjustable hitch looks like this: It seem as though the rapid hitch has a better chance of pulling apart under a heavy load... Scott
I haven't heard of a broken one yet, and it's certified to 10k pounds. The design makes it pretty much impossible for it to come apart unless if just plain breaks where the pin is.
If its certified for 10k lbs, then they have obviously done thier homework, and know it won't be a problem Cool deal.. Mines only rated to 6k.. but the most Ive pulled with it so far is about 4k.... I'll have a different hitch for pulling the trailer/jeep combo, but mine works well for flat towing the jeep, and hauling my boat or jet skis... I do have to say, that rapid hitch is BLINGIN! Scott
IIRC, that thing is made from aircraft aluminum. Freakin strong!! I plan on getting one when I get my 10K trailer.
$126 bucks plus shipping, not a bad deal considering most places sell them for at least $150, and many are as high as $199. You can get another ball for it so you have all 3 sizes and locking pins that match too. I can't use the locking pins since I have the 2.5" receiver and I don't own a trailer with a 1 7/8" ball, so that stuff didn't do anything for me.
Just got mine. These things are sweeeet! And the best part is mine was free, I I got the the company I'm working for to buy it for me. BTW, it came from United Rentals but they are not cheap mine was tagged for $170.
Sorry, I just saw this. I got it at http://www.mtsrv.com/store/shopdisplayproducts.asp?search=yes Best price by far. waytogo
