A cold air intake and open filter will give you more whistle to.I've heard the same thing about the silencer ring.If you take the intake hose off the front of your turbo, its the solid piece around the wheel.I dont know how to remove it though.

The silencer ring is held in by a little snap ring. pull it out and and pull the silencer ring out. You will hear a lot of whistle.

theres no silencer ring in those. theres a baffle in the middle of the intake tube. you can cut that out, or get a new intake. new tube and all. that will give you loads of turbo whistle! i recommend AEM brute force. thats what i had on mine, and she screamed! and its a dry filter, so no oil!

Yes these trucks do have a silencer ting in them. It can be removed by taking off air intake tube, then using a straight blade screwdriver by raising one end of the snap ring and sliding it toward you not the turbo fins. Be careful not to slip and hit fins not likely to happen by possible. This only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish.

All I have seen has had one which has been alot more than one. If your s didn't have it it is rare or someone already had it out.

'03s have it. Take intake hose off of turbo. Pull snap ring from inside turbo and silencer ring will dang near fall out. I have the AEM Brute Force and silencer ring removed and it whistles pretty good.

I just took the one out of my 05. At an idle and sitting still revving you can tell no difference. The key is to change out the air filter for a more free flowing unit. The tube can be bought new or do some elective surgery on your stock unit.

Yes it makes the turbo louder in the engine compartment but not through the exhaust... and I don't think its loud enough to get annoying; its not a Powerstroke...:stir:

When I first pulled the ring, I thought it was going to be annoying also. I kept thinking about sitting in the truck for several hours listening to the turbo whine. I wasn't so sure I was going to like it. A day or two later, I didn't even notice it anymore. I love the sound or that turbo spooling up or down.

It's just part of my truck now... waytogo
