I have a problem that I can't help but notice towing up the grades coming up from imperial sand dunes west. It seems that my truck is a little slower than simular rigs towing a 21' toy box fully loaded 3 quads gen. and gear than some of the other rigs. I am down to 35mph at some points. I have an 2001 3/4 ln bd 5"lift 17" 315. afe. 69,000 I can't tell if all of them are chipped or not but it does seem most are faster. Is this normal for non chipped, exhaust 2001 2nd gen Dodges? Any help would really be appeciated

Welcome! First, change out the fuel filter. If you don't have one, you NEED a fuel pressure gauge. When the lift pump fails, so will the VP44 if you continue to drive it. Common problem on these trucks.

Many of the others may be chipped. With stock power, 315's and 3.55 gears, I'd say that you will scrub some speed. Sounds like the trailer is short but heavy. You probably could pull better if yo manually downshift. Get your fuel pressure figured out and add a Smarty or Edge Juice and you'll fly up those hills!

Thanks for the info. Just had a F.A.S.S. put in and am now looking for a straight non cat S.S. 4"or 5" exhaust.to install. With a Juice or TST and Smarty planned for my towing needs.
