This was taken from a thread on CK5. I have wanted to put some H2 wheels with some 35" BFG's on my Dodge since I got it. Seems there needs to be just a little bit of machine work done to the wheels to make them work. I think I might have a hook on a set at a local tire shop. Just thought I would share with you guys. they are inexpensive as well. i pick up for rims, center caps, and used tires at about 75% for 250 plus tax. i can get brand new tires with chrome wheels for 550 plus tax. the only problem i have is them being a D rated tire. yes they have the SAME weight rating as the stock tires at 3195lbs but they are obviously more squishy. 50PSI vs 80PSI and 8 ply VS 10. i have yet to tow my GN with them, and am kind of sketchy about doing it. i did not use the H2 wheels but in the future i may buy a set and have them powder coated black and use the factory chrome center caps off the dodge. I belive the only machining that is required is to make the dodge centercaps fit the hummer wheels. Otherwise I had heard they are a direct bolt on.
NO!! the third gen dodges need the center hole in the wheel reamed out. i cant recal how much you have to remove or the final hole size. some people are doing the hole to one size others are going to another size. reason being the "hub centric vise lug centric" argument. i prefer on hub centering, but its all a personal option. to make the factory center caps fit you also have to cut some off so the lug grabbers (technical term here) can do just that. i THINK it is 3/4 of an inch, but cant recal. The tires already look really small with the stock height......I still brag to all my buds how I won the leveling kit thoughwaytogo As soon as I get it on I will post some pic's. Copied and pasted from CK5 thread linked above: Take a look at my webshots for a pic with the Hummer tires and rims installed on my 2003 dodge. I was able to get the tires Brand new, and rims for 400.00 bucks. Machining was 10 bucks per rim but the tire had to be removed from the rim. All told, I have 500 bucks into a set of 4 new tires and rims mounted and balanced. I was quoted $2000.00 just for tires on my existing rims from a local tire shop so I thought the Hummer option was a good way to go. I have a leveling kit on my truck and there is NO rub at all. I've heard that they will also fit without the kit but some people report they will rub at full lock . Here is a writeup I used to pass the specs onto the machine shop I used. inner rim. LT315/70 R 17 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 H2 Wheel Mod and Install In order to install GM H2 wheels on a Dodge 3rd Gen truck, the center hole must be opened up accurately to 121.23 mm or 4.774" diameter. Fortunately the lug bolt pattern fits the 8-lug Dodges perfectly and the OEM lugnuts fit. The stock Dodge rims and the GM H2 rims are "hubcentric" meaning the rims are held on center on the spindle/hub by the center hole, not the lug nuts. There is only .007 diameter or .0035" per side clearance between the wheel and the spindle protrusion. About 1/8" per side or 1/4" diameter needs to me machined out, accurately. It can be done, tires off on a lathe, or as I have done, on a milling machine buy either manually boring or using an end mill and cutting a circle with a programmable milling machine (CNC). I set the wheel/tires up by simply clamping directly on the tire. There is no need to be concerned about flatness as the thickness being machined is only about .8 thick. Not enough to effect perpendicularity. The hole must be indicated (center located) to within a few thousanths. I wrote a short program with cutter compensation to mill the circle. That way we could sneak in to the final dia. I had mine bored out at a local machine shop. Although, you can order a 4 3/4 holesaw from mcmaster.com. The part number is 41005A62. I would check around to a few local machine shops and see what they can do for you. It took the gentleman less than an hour to do all 4 wheels. Also, There is TON of info on this website. http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/ Do a search in the forums on H2 or hummer wheels and you will get all the info you need. One additional piece of information. You will need to remove about 3/4" from the lip of the dodge center caps to get them to fit. This process is also easily found in the forums.
