I did a search but didn't see any posts about this. I drive a 99 with a auto, no chip no intake no exhaust. When I rolled 200000 it started acting up. When you turn the key on you get the light check then you wait for the lights to go off after about 10 sec the wait to start light comes back and and truck will start. Before the light comes back on the truck will crank but not start, the transfer pump .will not kick on till after the light comes back on. I got a dodge service manual and it looks like either the ecu or the Inj. pump any ideas guys. King of frustrating in a drive true when it won't start!!
My guess would be the injection pump is failing (I would say the "cranking but not starting" symptom would be an indicator of that). Chances are your lift pump has been gone for quite some time and you have begun frying your injection pump. Do you experience any other symptoms of a failing injection pump like dead throttle or anything like that?
new lift pump i have a low pressure warning light( it works) this started a few month back. talked to a mechanic friend of mine he's had a couple come in that were like that just had to wait for the light to go off. he checked pumps and everything couldn't find a problem anywhere. it is a son of a beach let me tell you.
So let me clarify... your low pressure light has been coming on? If so, you are running below 5 psi, which is slowly ruining your injection pump. Even though it will run fine now, it will only be a matter of time before the injection pump fails.
no the truck will not start. like the inj. pump shut off solinoid inside the inj. pump is sticking. i have a new transfer pump i have never ran the truck once i get a low pressure light i park it and replace the transfer pump. it acts like the old 12 vavles when the shut off solinoid goes out. it will crank but no fuel. i am thinking inj pump my self just was curious if anyone else had a similar problem. I am a diesel mechanic i know about what happens when the transfer pump fails. i fell like the problem has nothig to do with the transfer pump i only mechoned it cause the truck will only start after the transfer pump get 12 volts. the trans fer pump is not getting power until about 15 seconds after you turn the key to the run position.
