With 11,000 miles on the 06 Ram I am finally starting to get better in-town milage. Haven't hand calced it yet, but it has slowly (over head display) crept up from 13 MPG to 17 in town, hope it keeps going up.

Don't let other people hype you up with their 22+ mileage figures... Driving back and forth from my apartment to my school I get like 13mpg and I get around 19-23 on the freeway depending on how I drive.

If you are actually getting 17 I think that is great! I get about 15.5-16 in town with a moderate lead foot.

The 17 was with a feather foot. :doah:
15.5-16 most times with normal driving.

Jeez, I am still getting 13 MPG. That of course is skewed due to the bigger tires, but I am having the speedo adjusted at the dealer. Hopefully I will see some real time numbers here soon. I am at 10K last time I checked.

I just picked my Dually up yesterday. I was showing 12mpg in the overhead when I first started driving it. By the end of the day I was showing 15.2mpg. I'm new to Dodge Diesels. I didn't even know I was going to get better fuel mileage.waytogo

Looks like I need to change my sig now.

Not yet, I was comparing overhead numbers to overhead numbers.

It's hard not to Hot Rod it.waytogo I like the way it picks up and pulls you back in the seat. Totally different than my Chevelle.

I've actually been getting over 15 in town and almost 17 on the highway. I'm still only at 1200 miles.

I'd say it will go up more when you guys have around 20k on the truck. It should be broken in by then, it's too early now with that little mileage.

Mileage will continue to creep up as you stack on the miles. I didn't flatten out on my 03 till 25K and that was mostly towing and hotrodding. Gotta wear them in. Expect better mileage in the future!

I just took a trip this week up to Crested Butte Colorado from Denver and back, about 300 miles each way. My '04 has about 42k miles and with 35" swampers I still averaged on the round trip 21.3 mpg.

With pure around town driving in Denver rush hour, I never average under 16 mpg per tankfull since around 20k miles.

You guys must have gotten duds :stir:

My 05 has about 17k on it now. In the city driving I get no less than 17-18 and my highway driving (70-80mph) is in the 20-23 range. Haven't done much highway towing lately but last time was around 10k miles and that was pulling a car and trailer (about 5k) and was getting 17-18mpg

I'm sure my 4:10's and heavy foot don't help a bunch. :doah:

That could be. I'm actually pretty conservative when I drive. Plus you being in colorado you have hills everywhere you drive

Well I just came back from a 400 mile trip to Utah. I tried a new experiment. I drove 65 MPH in a 75 MPH ( I usually drive 82 MPH). I averaged 20 MPG!!!!!!!! This is the most I have ever seen since I bought the truck. I am at about 14,700 or so miles. I am running 1700 RPM's at 65 MPH.

Before I was getting 13 MPG at 82 MPH, so an avg. of 7 MPG X 34 Gallon tank= 238 more miles per tank. Saving 12 gallons of gas X 3.16 Gal = $37.92 a trip savingswaytogo

Of course you have to get used to everyone passing you like your 90 years old or something:eek:

Hmmm, that might not be worth 37.92. :D
