well i had a B!Tch of a time findig reasonably priced 265-70-19.5's in a drive pattern that i didnt have to wait for... so i bit the bullet and bought 4 new tires in 245's. they handle a LOT different. they are 12 ply on the fronts and 14 ply on the rears. i am still getting used to the way the truck handles. i like it, but its a different truck.

i had CHEAP 265's on the truck before, and was having balance issues as well. the 245's ride a LOT better and are balanced with equal. they jsut react a LOT different in quick fast turns and in hard fast braking. like i said, just have to get a bit more used to it is all. give me a day or two... lol

ill get pictures of it and the ice box as soon as i buy new batteries for the camera.

That is interesting to hear. I have been trying to decide which size to get if I am going to have to get them with my new trailer and this is good to hear. I have been thinking I would have a hard time finding 265's because every web site that I see has several 245's listed but very few 265's and they usually have to be ordered.

What makes the handling different? What are the characteristics that define each size and make one better than the other?

i kept the 265's at 110 PSI. theese are only at 90 right now, so that is part of the change. the other part is the 265's were meant for an 8.5 inch wide rim but were mounted on a 6.5 inch wide rim. the 245's are meant for a 6.5 inch wide rim as they are mounted on right now. this makes the tire float a bit more than when its mounted on a mroe narrow rim and pushing against itself.

the 245's are stil soft right now, and since its winter they will stay that way for a while. i cant heat them up enough to harden them like the 265's.

the biggest thing i like is the fact i can go just about anywhere and get a tire that is the right size. if i could go back and purchase 245's from the get go i would as right now i would have only had to buy 2 new tires, not 4.
