I'm an entrepreneur in the Atlanta area and am looking into starting a car hauling operation to service the southeastern region. I understand it's difficult work and the legal requirements are daunting, but I'm still interested. Call me bullheaded. In short, the idea is to pull a Kaufman mini5 (mini5trailer dot com) with a ford f450. The trailer can haul up to five cars and has a gvwr of 25,900lbs. The ford is rated to tow just shy of that. I don't plan on driving myself as I have other businesses to attend to. My main question is: what kind of fuel economy can I expect from a ford f450 (6.4L) hauling a load in the low to mid 20,000's? In addition to building relationships with local dealers, used car lots and salvage yards, I will also be using central dispatch and carload USA. Any input is welcome. I still have a lot to learn.
Might want to... ... check out this site and ask, stuff is not looking too great right now, nor does it look like it is going to get better anytime soon. Site is free, so join up and ask away !! www.hotshothauling.com I believe your 450 and 5 car will be weighing more like around 35-39k with 5 on.
