I need to replace my throttle position sensor. The dealership parts counter says that after running my vin # through their system, I need part # 53031575AH (bell crank assembly and TPS). The retail price is $504 as confirmed at several dealerships.
When checking the aftermarket, every parts seller I contacted indicated the TPS is available from various manufacturers for about $215. The aftermarket parts all cross over to mopar part # 4874412. That part is also available from the dealership for a list of $225, this is the TPS only, same as the aftermarket.
It would appear that Dodge is saying, "when replacing the TPS on my truck I should install this bracket that has the TPS and the bell crank assembly attached to it".
Does anyone have experience with replacing the TPS on a 98.5 24v truck?
Is this updated part a design change or maybe their experience is don't replace the TPS without replacing the complete assembly??

    APPS sensor

Well, it's recommended that you change the apps sensor as an assembly instead of making adjustments or "modifying" it in any way. It throws the calibration off. You can never get the same calibration that the factory has if you remove the unit from the bracket.

Thank you, that is an answer I can understand. I'm going out right now to install the new assembly. I was able to find it through a discount Mopar parts supplier for about $400 with shipping as opposed to $504 from the dealer. I liked $200 a lot better but you gotta do what ya gotta do if you want to keep on truckin.
