I need to replace the trailer hitch on my truck, but before I buy the new one I've got a couple questions.

    1) What's the difference between a class 4 and a class 5 hitch? I looked online and both are listed for 10,000 wc and 12,000 wd. The only difference seems to be the price.

    2) Does anyone make a stainless steel hitch? Or is the cost prohibitive?

    Thanks.

I don't think anybody makes a stainless steel hitch other wise you'll pay over $ 10,000.

I had a class v hitch on my ford. It had a 2 1/2' receiver and was rated for 15k. If you need one for a ford I kept the hitch and have it in my tool shed.

That'd be great.waytogo How much would you have to get for it?

The receiver and the hitch are rusted solid on mine and I can't get them apart. Yes, I've tried everything I can think of to break the rust loose, heat, WD-40, PB Blaster, sledge hammer... I even chained it to a tree with a 3/8" logging chain and then kept driving forward until -BANG- I broke the chain. I've given up trying to get them apart and figure replacement is the best solution.
