You won't belive how much better your truck will drive with a VB/TC from Goerend bros!

Goerends or HTS. Like posted, VB and converter. I tend to push the Vb more than the converter for several reasons -

    With the VB -

The stock converter will have more lock up ability
    The shifts are much better
    Heat and wear are reduced.
    Simple install.
    Very cost effective.

When you add the converter, you sort of hit a wall. Where do you stop? The tranny is already out. Why not a billet input and flexplate? They are the next things to break. We need to spend more time taking about power and usage before a proper plan can be drafted, to save on labor and parts coasts in the end. We are firm believers in "Build it right the first time." It cheaper that way. Post up your power goals, time frame, and truck usage and I can get you a better plan drawn up, more to your needs.

Diesel Nut made a good point about just getting a vb as long as you haven't been slipping the converter. I ended up with a converter because I slipped mine enough to get it toasty.

Not really alot of friction material on transmission parts. Only takes a couple of good slips to do damage. Add some heat and you have a transmission that will be crying for TLC!

There are lots of options there. 10-12 seems very low for a 3rd gen. Are you driving it hard? 4.10 gears? Huge tires? Fill out your sig and tell us more about your truck.

my truck is an o3 3500 dually crewcab 4x4 laramie hd 5.9ho cummins auto truck totaly stock .runs about 1800 rpm at 110kmh.I put about 200 km on it today overhead computer told me about 15 mpg .How acurate are these things.I get about 450 km to a tankfull in town havent done a proper road trip yet overhead tells me around 11 in town.M wife and I found the truck in the back corner of a dealer lot under a foot of snow around -20.It started right away didnt smoke and sounded pretty solid .had lots of small things that needed fixing lights no wheelcovers 209km etc interior black leather mint not a mark.exterior is poppy red has painted grill and bumpers sport package i think .no dents but lots of rock chips pretty normal for a northern B.C.truck but has full aluminum runningboards so bottom is allmost perfect.I did autobody restorations for 20 years so i could see the potential and the price was right.I will get my daughter to do a few pics for on here.I am new to this computer stuff so bear with me if I repeat a question. thanks for all input.

The overhead display on my 2004.5 is almost always 2-3 mpg high compared to hand calculating. I never trust it.
As far as erratic shifting, I had a similar problem and the thing that provided the most help for me was the "tinfoil wrap". Find the short cable that comes off of the rear of the alternator and goes to the right side battery. In some cases it gives off electrical impulses that cause shifting problems. (This sometimes indicates worn brushes in the alternator that are arcing.) The simple fix... wrap the cable with common aluminum foil and then elecrical tape. This 2 minutes of work took care of my shifting issues.
There is also another electrical issue that I remember reading about but I can't remember exactly what issues it caused, but I think it was shifting or engine performance. It's a wire that rubs against an a/c compressor bolt until it shorts. You have to crawl under the right side to find it. Do a search and you should find some threads on it here.

tranny troubles fix eratic shifting problem

03 Dodge 59 diesel uses old style 727 tranny which uses kick down style cable to regulate flow presure this cable is adjustable at throttle linkage adjusted one notch and tranny works beautifully. Thanks for other upgrage info. Crudehaulerob:D
