I have 2000 RAM 2500 with the 24V Cummins diesel and 47RE trans. The truck has about 117,000 miles. I service the trans every 15000 miles with Mopar ATF+4. When I accelerate normally it will not shift into 2nd. If I let off the gas or take off very slowly it "will" shift into 2nd at about 2000rpm and 22 mph then it shifts OK into 3rd and OD. I've adjusted the low/reverse and kickdown bands to 72 inchlbs. and backed off the proper number turns. Any ideas?

    Trans won't shift into 2nd.

I discovered that I have about 1.5 inches of play in the throttle cable at the accelerator pedal position sensor. Should I simply replace it or get it reprogrammed at the dealer. Anyone have part#'s and how much this thing costs?

There should be a fair amount of slack in the tv cable at idle, some more than others. all you are after is that it bottoms at the same time you hit full throttle. Has this been an on going problem or did it gradually get worse? It would almost seem that the tv cable may be to tight. If that doesn't dot it you migt try backing off the Min. tv screw on the valve body

    Trans won't shift into 2nd

Well it's done this for about 2 weeks now. When I'm turning a corner it will change normally. Beats me why this occurs. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the speed sensor in the rear axle because one wheel is turning faster than the other while cornering. I'm just thinking things out before I spend unnecessary money.

    Trans won't shift onto 2nd

Well yesterday on my way home it did not want to shift into 3rd . I had to manually shift into gear. Does any aftermarket manufacturers make any controllers to override the factory controls? I'm considering getting a aftermarket tranny or doing a manual swap?

    Trans won't shift into 2nd.

Now I'm having problem not only shifting into 2nd but 3rd also. Had to purchase a Chrysler specific diagnostic scanner insert, OTC 3306-14, to communicate with the powertrain controls. With this insert I can monitor the transmission electronic control temp, pressure, and apps values. I'll post what I find. I went out to cycle the ignition key 3 times and got a "p done" code in the odometer flash. Any ideas what this means? I'm thinking I may have a bad PCM. I've read this on another forum.

    Trans won't shift

Well, I finally bit the bullet and had the trans rebuilt. Cost me 2G's. The front band was worn and low governor pressure. But I have an improved valve body w/ shift kit, new torque converter, new pump, shift solenoids, aluminum servos, flushed the coolers, etc. Now I can check the fluid in park because I have flow in park position. I'm very happy with it so far. Shifts hard and fast. Took the truck to AAMCO to get a "free" diagnostic check and they could not tell me what's wrong. They simply quoted me $1400- $2300 for a "basic" rebuild. There were no diagnostic codes. Another AAMCO wanted to tear the trans down to look inside to see what was wrong. When I told the tech that I wanted to add upgrades beyond factory settings he told me I was wasting my money and I'd have nothing but problems. The nerve of this IDIOT! Beware of AAMCO! Finally found a shop that was honest with me and told me the real truth. Gave me a free diagnostic check and hooked gauges to check trans pressure .The owner has 35 years experience.
