I haver never seen a TTB front end before and I am going to look at a 94 F250 this weekend. The guy says the front end is showing some wear but I have no idea what to look for. Besides the usual wear and tear items like TRE's, ball joints, and u joints what should I look for on this front end?
On each of the traction beams (not radius arms) there are some bushings where these arms mount to the frame. You have to crawl under the front axle to see them. Also check the bushings on both ends of the radius arms as joez suggested. Drive it over some bumps when turning and listen for some clunking noises.
F250,s with the diesel should have a dana 50 solid, Ive never seen one with a TTB, but I could be wrong (usually am.)
Check the axle pivot brackets for loose bolts. These are the brackets that bolt to the cross member directly under the engine and the bolts typicaly loosen over time. Back the truck up about 15ft and check the front end for any camber issues. That can be an indicator of loose axle pivot brackets.
I have a ttb front in my 88 f250 and it does have a dana 50 but the f350 and the stripped chasis has a dana 60 ttb front.waytogo
No such thing, All 250's regardless of engine are ttb. All 350's are ball joint hp D60's. In the model years specified.
