Well, I just got my '07 3500 Mega Cab updated last week, again. I haven't figured out why Cummins keeps sending out these updates and then taking them back. My problems all started when my check engine light came on and I took my truck back to have it checked. The service department flashed my truck's computer with a new update and everything went well. After a couple of months, the check engine light came on again, so back to the dealership I went to have it updated again. After this update, I noticed that my exhaust brake would cut out at 1,600 RPMs and would come back in at 1,400 RPMs. If the RPMs were held in this range, it would sound like the truck was missing really bad. I called the dealership back and asked if they could fix it, and I was told that they couldn't go back in updates. Once a new one was loaded, the old one was no longer available to be loaded. After a few weeks went by, they called me back and told me that Cummins had sent out the old update with a file that allowed the truck's computer to be flashed back to a "virgin" state. After the computer was wiped clean, the old update could be loaded. Everything was fine until I went to have the oil changed last week. A new update was available and I was dumb enough to let them load it on my truck. Guess what? The engine brake stops working at 1,600 and starts back at 1,400. Now they tell me there is no way to go back. We are at update "AZ" and it is my understanding these things started at "AA." Thats a lot of updates! I love my truck and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but the 120+ mile rould trip to the dealer is making it expensive for me. Has anyone else had these problems, or have I just got a lemon?
Have had mine since Sept. 07. The only update i have done was the g-30 I did'nt notice any change in anything ( mpg / hp ). Have had no problems so far.
you may have got a "lemon".... if it were me i'd piss and moan to the dealer non-stop until they rectified the situation by either making the truck run correctly or swap it for another one which will run right.
