i just picked up a 99 f250 and was lookin to do some upgrades and was just lookin for some imput i was thinking i would start out with intake and exhaust, for the exhaust i am just gonna run straight pipe but was wondering if 4in would be enough or should i go with 4in downpipe to 5in, or any other sugguestions? for the intake i was looking at the afe stage 2, anyone have any experience with these? are they worth it or can something better be done? thanks
AFE or Donaldson. Can't go wrong ether way. For the Exhaust, make sure you get one with a down pipe. As for the difference in brands, the biggest difference is price and material. Flowmaster is about the only one doing anything different with mufflers, and not neccissarily a good thing. Stick with the name brands. I personally like MBRP and Diamond Eye. Next up is chips. Either a TS or Quadzilla flip chip would be the best choice for power and price. If you have an auto, its going to be very upset with you at this point if you get an agressive chip. If it is a stick, then a clutch will be in your future. Synthetic oil is also a great upgrade. Little better mileage, longer changes, more heat resistant. We use Amsoil.
thanks i got an auto, i ordered the afe already since i noticed that one of the tabs on the stock air box was cracked, i was planning on getting the a 4in downpipe and probally just 4in straight pipe the rest of the way back, just one other question im seeing aluminized steel and stainless what is the aluminized and will it make a big difference if i go with this, i am asuming that the stainless is just going to look nicer/not rust
piss off the neighors I have 2000 F250 7.3, as for my Exhaust It’s a turbo back magna flow 4” straight pipe too a 5” tip It’s loud and pisses off the neighbors when it’s worming up in the morning . :stir: I LOVE IT
