My 2000 ford Powerstroke for the glow plugs has a "wait to start" instrument panel light.Do the other two Dodge/GM have this?Thanks Joe
My 05 Silverado has a lite. The lite is in the shape of a coil otr a pigs tail. The wait is about 4seconds when cold. At tempeture the pig tail light does not even come on. When I bought my truck the dealer said no need to wait for the light to go out but I wait for it anyway waytogo
Leave it to the dealer to tell you not to obey every important rule outlined in the owner's manual. :doah: Mine said the same sort of thing, not with that since mine is a gasser but with other things.
Ya it's funny or sad how stupid thease sales folk are. I just smile and nodd my head :doah: turn around and walk away....
My Dodge has a "wait to start" light also, in the form of a grid heater instead of glowplugs like the GM's and Fords.
i was also told not to worry about using the glow plugs unless its below 30 degrees and havent used mine since and havent had any problems in the last 5 years .......if it sits uncranked for a few days or so i use it on the first crank but here in la its hardly ever cool much less cold but i dont even hear a hesitation when cranking i guess the outside temp has a lo to do with that
I used mine in Kansas when it was below 40F. Sometimes I would forget and the Duramax didn't seem to care even on first start-up of the day. Follow the manual till you find out what your rig likes and doesn't like. Leaddog
