I would not hesitate one bit going out and buying a 6.7, I plan on getting one when my 06 is paid for. Nothing would scare me away from the 5.9 either, I would try to findout why the other guy got rid of it. Why are you giving up your Ford?

Interesting that you want to get rid of your king ranch. I think they are an awesome truck but refuse to pay that much extra for a change in leather colour. My dream truck - money no option is a king ranch with a Cat C7. the swap wouldn't be a walk in the park but it is doable. A brand new C7 will set you back 12k. I love my 6.7 Dodge Quadcab. Tons of power and a fine interior. I wouldn't go for a mega cab because you can't get a long box. A short box hasn't got near enough cab clearance for an RV.

Granted, I'm partial to Cummins and I have admitted before, that I'm a Cummins driver, not a Dodge driver. I would almost buy whatever truck had the Cummins in it because they've been around so much longer than the Ford or Chevy diesel engines.

I know I've read of some guys having problems with their 6.7L engines, but no one seems to dispute how they feel about the new 68RFE auto that Dodge has behind the Cummins. Most things I've read about the 68RFE (and/or the AISIN), folks are saying there's no reason for a standard tranny anymore. That's a big jump for any of us who know of the Dodge tranny woes of our trucks. I'm liking the body style that Dodge is planning for the '09 1500's and I know Dodge plans to tweak that design just a little for the 2010 2500/3500's. I'm planning to get a 2010; just trying to make up my mind about whether to go with a Cab & Chasis or not.

if you're thinking 3500 dually my choice would be c&c with a flatbed or a hauler bed. I found the flat bed on my Ford to be handier than a pocket on a shirt. And I can tell you the sheet metal on the Dodge box is paper thin. It won't take anything. I dropped a round bale in the back that landed flat on the floor and then tipped over into the bed rail. It bent the lip down more than an inch. I was tired of having a dually so I went with the 2500 long box. Probably wouldn't make the same choice again now the c&c is available.

My dream truck would be a King Ranch with a 5.9 marine block and 24 valve head on a 5.9 P-pumped and followed with a Allison! Forget about the C-7; too many problems! (I know I work on them at a Cat dealer).

Mainly problems with the HEUI system (high pressure oil pumps) fuel injectors, some blown head gaskets, and a couple of dropped valves. Have seen any one of these problems with under 80k on the odometer. But then again I do work at a warranty repair facility!;) I just think the 5.9 has built a pretty good reputation over the years.
