My engine light came on for about 10 miles and then went out, wonder what that was about?

I called the dealership, said it was prob bad gas/vapor lock, said if the light was flashing then bring it in otherwise wouldn't worry about it.

Sounds like that time on "Tool Time" when Tim's wife blew up the motor in their car. The idiot light had come on and she keep driving it. Her reason was if it really was something bad the light should have gotten brighter. rotfl :stir:

So did you check the codes yet? Even with the light out the code should still be stored. I have a couple, ones a shorted brake light switch, the other is a battery temp. sensor thats bad, someday I'll fix them  . They turn on the CEL about once a week for one startup and one startup only then it goes back. Kinda just wants to look up and say hey, don't forget about me here... :)

Other than going to the Dealer, or buying a scanner, how can I check the codes?

Turn the key to run (but don't start it) 3 times and leave it in the on position on the 3rd time. Basically grab key and turn to run then back off then back to run then back off then back to run and leave it there. The codes will flash on the odometer readout as a P#### and it will flash DONE when it's finished.

Are you sure about that? What did the display say after the key on/off cycling? If the CEL came on, there will be a DTC stored. The CEL will not come on if a DTC doesn't trigger it.

The display read the amount of miles the truck has as always, this is my first Dodge so I don't know what CEL and DTC stands for?

Then you did it incorrectly. It will always say something other than the miles not matter if theres codes or not. Make sure your fully going to off and to the run position each time and doing it quickly, don't wait inbetween on/off cycles.

Check the connection on the intake air sensor and if it's good replace the sensor.

I will check it but if the connection is good I will wait to see if the light goes on again and have the warrenty pick it up.
