    Hi Guys,

I could really use your advise and expertise.

I have a few trailers I tow, ranging from 5000 to 8000 lbs.

I have the following two trucks but need to consolidate and I'm not really getting what I need from these trucks either.

    2004 GMC K2500HD 8.1L Crew Cab 4x4 Gas
2002 Dodge Dakota Sport Club 4.7L 4x4 Gas

If I use my TT as an example. With the Dakota I have no problem pulling if I like to rev @ 3500rpm getting about 250km/60L

Compared to the GMC with the same load I only get 300km/100L

In both cases I'm tired of the limited range but I'm not sure if Im bitting off more than I can chew if I move to the diesel realm?

Should I be looking at a 1500 series 6.X L engine? Would this give me 400+km/tank

Or should I be looking at a 2500 Diesel? And what can I expect?

Questions or if I'm unclear let me know.

    Thanks for your opinions.

If your towing 8000 lbs I would consider getting a diesel, it will have no problem with that weight and be a lot easier/safer on the rest of the truck not to mention the extra power you will have. Can't comment on the range as all my experience has been in the mountains at elevation but it was a night and day difference when I went from a 454 gas to the Cummins towing 7000 lbs.
