With an older rig I would pretty much rule out an auto transmission, especially since you plan to only tow with it. I would look at the first gen...
I only weigh 10.5K and have hydraulic brakes. I don't think my rig is heavy enough, especially without air brakes....or at least I hope so. :doah:
If my new pump lasts the usual 40-50K or so, I should have plenty of time to get guages in and monitor the fuel pressure.
