I am having a issue out of my 1994 GMC C6000 Topkick "C6H042 6.0 L V-8 Gas 225 gross HP 366 cu. in." Truck (Old Uhaul - Redneck RV Conversion Project). My truck engine runs normal however after I get underway the tachometer rpm indicator fluctuates jumping around wildly and sometimes even drops down and shows a reading of 0 RPM's but when I stop and the engine revs down to idle it will reset and will read ok for awhile until a load is put on the engine again. Not really sure what is going on here and thought since I saw your post that I would throw mine into the mix so to speak as well and see what shakes out from the experts that frequent this board.

    Thanks

    Kyle @ St.Pete, FL

    Tach

Sounds to me like an electrical short, wire touching or bouncing around and shorting out
