Just had G30 recall. You will love it.
Cranked up the truck, overhead reading 11.2mpg.
Drove out of parking lot, overhead went immediately to 9.5mpg, stayed there for 1 mile, pulled onto Interstate, set cruise at 65mph. Drove for 6 miles on fairly level road. Overhead steadily increased all the way to 18.9mpg. As I climbed very slight hill the overhead fell slowly to 18.1mpg.
It seems overhead is much more sensitive. My truck has never ran in 18's that long.
    Great going DC.

Now lets see if the hand calculated works out to be similar to the overhead!

When I had my 2005 Cummins, my mileage continually increased until I got to 10k miles.

we just did the recall on my GFs 07.5 4x4 dually and the mileage got worse on the overhead console and actual... not sure if it has recovered yet but it was getting around 11mpg where as before the recall was 16-20 depending on where and how we were driving. have almost 10k miles on it now....

The overhead was never accurate compared to the actual hand calculated mileage in my 05.

And yes the mileage will continue to get better until about 10k miles (when it is broken in).
