I drive a beater 4x4 to tow my Jeep because it may need to double as a recovery truck sometime and I will be glad I have it.
06 4X4 Dodge Dually. For the few times that I have needed my 4WD its been worth it to me to have it and not need to be pulled. Also no problems with mine in the 98000 miles that ive put on it in the past 7 months love this truck.waytogo
You must be a Hot Shotter then?? or do you just make alot of trips to the store??waytogo Welcome aboard
Just a long way to town thats all. Yeah im a hot shotter I started out in the camper haulin business but........ Not my cup of tee. So I went out found my own loads and i have been runnin my tail off ever since. Lovin every second of it now.
Had a 2x4 and got stuck several times when towing on rough terrain. Now I have a 4x4 DRW and have used the 4x4 several times. I hual heavy dump trailers for work and they tende to sink into peoples lawns once they are loaded so 4lo makes it easy to get out.
I traded 4x4 for 2wd, it works for me. I pull a gooseneck car hauler and my first truck was a 4x4. I used it several times in unexpected snow storms. Overall I did not like running it 98% of the time on the highway in dry conditions. It was difficult for me to access the bed. I sold that truck and bought a CTD 2wd and I store it in the bad winter months. I stay home and work on my hobby cars during those months. The benefits for me are, better mpg, lower truck is easier to access the bed, underhood and the area behind the seat. Less maintenance and I can change the rear gear if I want to try something different.
i have a 91 4x2 dodge 3/4 ton cummins. I would have loved to get a 4x4, but i am 16, and got a great deal on the cummins. Only 2 grand! I use the truck to tow my 4 wheeling truck. I am in MA, and we get a good amount of snow. I am lifting the truck now, running 33" mud terrains, a limited slip, and i will be running tire chains, and about 700 pounds of sand in the bed, along with a winch, so i dont think snow driving will be a problem. But if i could i would want a 4x4.
If you have a 2wd, do you wish you had a 4x4 instead? I do at times but I don't miss the extra wrenching and cost Are you happy with/without dual rear wheels? Love the dually, especialy up on I-80 in Wyoming when the wind is blowing (all the time)
4x4 I gotta get the truck back up to the top of the boatramp and going up north it can be kinda slippery
My drivers are both 4x4. When we actually get snow here, its worth having. That and its nice to be able to get through a little mud now and them...imp:
4x4 srw ill never get a 2x4, i have used the 4x4 more than a few times at muddy jobsites, boat ramps, gettin to those fishin holes you dont want to walk to and just screwin around in general. and alot of yall are talking about xtra work and headaches with the 4x4's i dotn know what your talking about all my vehicles have been 4x4s except 1 car maybe i just dont know any different. the only prob i had with the 4x4 on any of my trucks was on a 89 chevy and all that ended up being was a wire connection next to the transfer case came undone.
Man I got some snow today and didnt get to pull anyone out of ditches or even really have a decent reason to lock er in
its days like today that im glad i have a 4x4, seen a number of stuck vehicles all over...... 2x4 trucks are about usless in this weather imo...just ask the guy that was stuck in the intersection for about 10 minutes today
99% of the time I need 4X4 like another hole in my head, but I won't have anything but! frysl 04 2500HD CC 4X4
Wouldn't buy one without 4x4. We have had the TT behind the truck and know I would have been calling a tow truck, if i hadn't had 4x4 on several occasions. Just try to backup a hill on wet grass, then hook a trailer to ya...:doah:
4X4 duals I have pulled my 5th wheel with both single and duals. The duals provide me with more piece of mind and I would say more stability, however the single was an F-250 and the dual is an F-350. So its hard to say which makes the truck hold better, but I would guess the answer to be both. Both trucks were 4X4. I end up using it 1-2 times per year. Could live without it, but wont. waytogo
