I heard the 6.7 was rated for 325/750 , and I'm not sure about tranny but a 6 spd Aisin auto. was mentioned or something. Didn't hear anything about a standard, and that would be a shame if they didn't offer it.
I have no problem with the bigger stroke.....I have a problem with the declining rod ratio. A longer rod which gives a more desirable rod ratio will have higher dwell and a slower piston speed. If torque is your thing, these factors are important. An excellent example of my point is the comparison in performance between a 440 Mopar and 454 BBC. Which one has more low rpm torque? The 440 with the .250" shorter stroke and MUCH better rod ratio does. I love BBC's and have owned several but simply cannot deny the unmatched torque curves that the 440 is capable of......Bottom line, the stroke length is not everything and certainly not the determining factor when it comes to making torque.
I read in this past months OOIDA magazine that the new 6.7 was indeed rated 325 hp and 750 lb/ft of torque. What will the competition do now?
I've read that its rated for 305 horsepower and 610 lb.-ft of torque. Guess we'll have to see when it comes out.
Yeah, I saw 305/610, but that was for the commercial type trucks with the bed deletes, etc. Theres no way the bigger engine won't be stronger than the current one for the regular trucks, but I think all 3 are gonna be in the same ballpark.
Here's my take on the manual vs auto thing.... Ive got an NV5600 manual and I love it, and its beefy enough for anything I do. The new G56 trans in the dodge has yet to be proven. Autos work well, but when you throw lots of power behind them, they need work. With a manual, the tranny can be strong as hell, but in reality, its only as strong as the clutch its got. Scott
Yep, I agree. Since two weeks ago we have both. My dad has a South Bend Con OFE and and NV5600 and I have a modified auto with all the works. Both are great, but I still like my auto. waytogo
Its possible though that Dodge wants to be king of the fuel milage again though. The older 12 valves got incredible mileage. The werent turned up all that much, 175 hp isnt much. They had the torque to get the job done, (slowly) with the great mileage. If the 6.7 isnt turned up alot, they will should get good mileage with plenty of power.
hmm, but atleast the manual can be gotten with the same HP/Tq as an auto... not a downgraded model like the izuzu counterparts..... the ne w6 speed that is supposed to come out with the 6.7L should be a very nice transmission... but time will tell.
