    I would think the clutches in the tranny should be able to handle the power going from 1st to second and to third, but when the converter clutch goes to lock up it will likely want to slip. You'l feel the engine drop some RPM and at the same time you will start to get a shutter shake coming out of the truck. This should be your lockup clutch spinning on the backing plate trying to hook up.

    If you have overdrive locked out, it will be the last shift you feel. After a while, you'll get the hang of it and be able to drive around the converter, meaning when you have the eardge to feel some power you'll get on it, let it shift through 2nd and 3rd, and as lock u is about to hit, you decrease pedal pressure by about 25% or so to keep it from slipping lockup.
