I'm fixing to drag a 33' 5th wheel from Wa to Az with my 98 cummins 3500 4X dualie-- bone stock with AT and 3:55 gears [yea that sucks] and just 98,000 on it. Other than a trans temp gauge, synthetic ATF,and a light foot, what's the best bang for my buck to insure the survival of my tranny ? I'll be around max towing weight for this rig {11,000 lbs} I got maybe 300 bucks to spend. Thanks for your input.
The best investment you could make is a LARGE tranny cooler (if you don't already have one). I would recommend the stamped plate design over the tube and fin type.
