Dodgerep, Curious about that long trailer... I have an '06 Ram 3500 dually, max trailer weight is about 16,000+ pounds I think (I'm in Iraq right now, my owner's manual is not). I would imagine those long trailers are close to the towing weight of our trucks... How do 1 ton owners get away with pulling trailers that size/weight, especially considering they're usually not empty? Mike
40' trailer with a 48' hi cube can on top ! Picked up many at the L.A. port and brought back to Pahrump and Vegas, some when it was 124* on the backside of Death Valley between Baker and Pahrump. With around 16' behind the rear axle, they do swing out into the other lane somewhat during a turn.
I thought there were only two sizes of those shipping containers; 20' and 40'. That why I questioned your trailer length.
I've seen 20's, 28's, 40', 45', 48', and even 53'ers. The 45'er's are usually the bears, all steel, no aluminum, 12-13k lbs just for an empty can !! :doah:
Are you hauling commercially? If you can get work like that Vette you might think about getting an enclosed trailer and advertising its safety and protection of high-value vehicles from the elements. Think about a V nose too, that will increase your fuel mileage by 2-3mpg.
