$0.00 here also. Leaves me more $$$ for my other bottomless money pits!!!waytogo Bracket car, Turbo Buick street car, Chevelle, me diiping into the full time trucking racket with my Ram, etc..,40' GN flatbed
$564 for my 2003 F350 Crew Cab Long Bed Lariat, but I didn't put anything down and financed it for a long term 84 months. Figured I'd have the truck a while and wanted to keep the payments fairly reasonable.
Another $0 here. On a side note I'm amazed at the number of people of don't care how much a vehicle costs them. All that matters is how much the payment is every month. I have a used car lot so I see this all the time! It's mostly the 30 and under crowd that have no concept of true cost for a vehicle. I have lots of them come in and try to get me to buy the vehicle that they can no longer afford and I get to tell them the car they owe $20,000 on is worth about $12,000. Do they teach financial responsibility in school anymore??
Your point is well taken. In my case, though I did say I was more interested in monthly cash flow, I didn't say I didn't care about how much the truck cost. I paid about $800 under invoice on mine, back in 03, when there were zero incentives on the Super Duty trucks. I got a long loan because monthly cash flow was a little more important to me than the total out of pocket. But... you can look at that in two ways. My loan rate is very low, under 5% as I'm a middle aged guy with two houses and good credit. So, the question that should really be considered is, what is better: take your $36k and pay the car off at purchase, or take your $36 and drop it in a mutal fund making 10% on average, then borrow the money for the truck at 5%? I chose the latter option. I'm also pleased to say that the F350 has held its value so well, that despite putting zero down and having being only about 30 months into an 84 month loan, I do have thousands in equity in the truck according to kelly blue book trade-in value - even better if I chose to retail it myself.
wow who would of thought this forum would have so much mud slinging! I guess i am in a little different boat. Being in the diesel performance business I need to keep current, bought my first truck new in 04 at age 24, no money down with good credit financed 32,500 payment of $520ish. Paid two years, refianced once for lower intressed. Traded it in for $29,000 last month bought new one for 31,800, raised payment to $600 and gained about $4500 in equity. Hoping within 10 years or so I will be paying cash for trucks. Hope the economy stays good. Mike
I like the 0 option. I was blessed to find my truck at a credit union as a repo. Paid cash for it. I hate payments! waytogo
