I am disabled at the present. I worked as a heavy duty mechanic for over 20 years and hope to get back to it some day.
waytogo When I retire in 6-8 years, my goal is to develop a race shop that among other things resells products associated with my race team, including AMSOIL.
Having your own race shop would be so sweet I'm currently looking at plans of building my own garage but while I would like to stay in the performance area I know my bread and butter would be basic care and services...I think I'm becoming a workaholic:doah:
hummmmm i missed this one i think 21 years retired Navy helicopter fixer upper now into my 3rd year as an environemtal scientist for the Army sounds neat..... I basically review tech manuals for ozone depleting chemicals and swap em out for less dangerouss chemicals mind numbigly boring but it pays darn well and i am retiring again in december if the planets dont come unaligned
Started out in college, became a journeyman Tool and Die maker, became a ASE Master heavy diesel mech, then got my current job as a IAFF Firefighter/Paramedic.
Sales rep pays the bills, I have my fun at my sideline gig of working at a kennel training retreivers, we train hunting dogs and Hunt Test/Field Trial dogs, as well as compete in retreiver games..

This might be a dying topic, but I'll post. I retired from the Marine Corps after 24 yrs as a CH-46 mechanic/crew chief. Now I'm a helicopter mechanic for the largest hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. I almost love this job more than I loved doing what I did when I retired. For those of you who posted, saying you were either between jobs or holding P/T work until something perm. comes along, I'm hoping that you've gotten the work you were/are looking for.
Wow!!! I see whe have lots of Military Guys here!! Thats awesome, thanks for your service guys!! I dunno if I replied to this or not, but right now I'm a full time student and a general laborer on the side to pay the bills. I'm also a Volunteer Firefighter and soon EMT.
Started out as a tool and die machinist. Moved into electronics/computers where I've been for over 25 yrears; eleven of it on military contracts repairing and programming flight sims (F-14, F-18, C-141). Currently, I write programs for slot machines.
